May Equipment Sales

The woods, irons, wedges and shoes categories recorded sales gains in May, according to Golf Datatech LLC, a Kissimmee, Fla.-based industry research firm. Sales of woods rose 3.8 percent in dollars and 11.6 percent in units compared with May 2003, while dollar sales and unit sales for irons increased by a healthy 6.2 percent and 6.7 percent, respectively. Shoe dollar sales climbed 9.8 percent, while the number of pairs sold increased 6.6 percent from May 2003.
